Unique Children’s Birthday Party Ideas

Throwing a birthday party for a child can be an adventure. Sometimes, it’s fun! You brainstorm with the child, come up with a great theme, plan the decorations, food, and games, and find really great party favors that all the guests will love. Other times, it can be a little overwhelming. You might feel like you’re running out of ideas, and under pressure to make this party even better than last year’s. Not to worry! We’ve got some ideas that are fresh and exciting, to make your child’s party an event to remember.

· Does your kid dig dinosaurs? Create an excavation site in your own backyard for a paleontologist party to remember. All you really need is a sandbox, some dinosaur toys, and excavation tools like beach shovels, buckets, and brushes. Keep the theme going with dino décor and cake, and let the kids take home whatever they dig up as favors.

· Is your child’s crowd big into animals? A pet party might be just the thing. Throw your shindig in an animal-friendly environment, and allow pets to attend with their owners. Make sure all the animals will get along, and consider choosing a single species: a dog party, for instance, could have friendly dogs interacting with kids, participating in fetch contests, nibbling treats, and maybe even submitting to some colored hair chalk on the fur. Want to go above and beyond? Look for mobile petting zoos in your area, who might be able to bring some more exotic creatures to the party.

· Is there a movie buff in the house? Throw a movie party, either at a theatre or at home. At home, arrange a red carpet fashion show before beginning a movie marathon. At the theater, you can often rent an entire theater just for the party. You might even be able to have a special birthday message displayed on the big screen.

· Would an in-home version of Cupcake Wars fit the bill? You can either prebake the cupcakes, or let the kids bake them at the party, but the biggest thing is the decorating. Provide partygoers with a selection of decorating tools and toppings, and let their imaginations dictate their creations. To take it to the next level, provide personalized chef hats and aprons, and award prizes for tastiest, most artistic, most creative, and craziest cupcakes.

· Would a destination party be a thrill? We’re not talking about an island, but what about the attractions in your own town? Often aquariums, zoos, and museums offer fun packages for kids’ parties.

· Is competition your baby’s bag? Whether it’s go-karts, video games, or a good old-fashioned scavenger hunt, sometimes a little bit of friendly competition can make a party perfect. Make sure to pick up some prizes for +

· Is your child a Christmas fanatic? You might think a Christmas themed party will only work for a December birthday, but hear us out. Set up a birthday tree, serve eggnog, hot cocoa, and Christmas cookies, and hire Santa to make an appearance. Seeing Saint Nick out of context will be a happy and unique surprise for every child in attendance.
